Our Commitment to Child Safety
At KIDS Family Day Care, we believe that every child deserves to grow, learn, and thrive in an environment where they are protected, respected, and genuinely heard. We are fully committed to maintaining a service where children’s safety and wellbeing come first.
Child safety is an essential part of how we operate every day. From the way we plan our programs to how we build relationships with families, we actively work to prevent harm and uphold the rights of every child.
We are committed to:
Creating a strong culture of safety where children feel confident, valued and supported to speak up.
Respecting and celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, ensuring they are safe in their cultural identity and actively involved in decisions that affect them.
Listening to children’s voices and involving them in ways that are meaningful, age-appropriate, and respectful.
Ensuring our services are inclusive and accessible, welcoming children from all backgrounds and experiences, including children with disability, children in out-of-home care, children from multicultural and multifaith communities, international students, and LGBTIQA+ children.
Employing and working with people who are safe and suitable, through robust screening, induction and monitoring practices.
Supporting and training our educators and staff to recognise signs of harm, respond appropriately, and uphold child-safe practices in all aspects of their work.
Responding seriously and promptly to any concerns, disclosures or reports of abuse, neglect or grooming, and following all legal and ethical reporting obligations.
Identifying and managing risks, both in physical spaces and online environments, to prevent harm before it occurs, while still respecting children's need for connection, play and learning.
Supporting victim survivors of past abuse, with compassion, respect, and access to appropriate support services.
Working in line with Victoria’s family violence risk assessment and response framework (MARAM) to strengthen our response to children and families at risk.
We are especially focused on making sure that our information, services, and supports are culturally safe, accessible and inclusive for:
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children
Children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
Children with disability
LGBTIQA+ children and young people
Children who cannot live at home
Everyone at KIDS Family Day Care has a role in protecting children. Together, we are building a community where children feel safe, connected, and free to flourish.
